US Senate passes $95bn aid bill for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan
The lawmakers approved the measure in a 70-29 vote that exceeded the chamber’s 60-vote threshold for passage and sent the legislation to the House. Twenty-two Republicans joined most Democrats to support the bill.
The legislation includes $61bn for Ukraine, $14bn for Israel in its war on Gaza and $4.83bn to support partners in the Asia Pacific, including Taiwan, and deter aggression by China.
It would also provide $9.15bn in humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, Ukraine and other conflict zones around the globe.
